The present is so undervalued. You must realize that in order to obtain a future filled with happiness and everything that you ever dreamed possible to have the slightest chance of becoming reality, you must live for NOW.

Welcome to our one and only poetry column by Michele Wroblewski. Michele aims to show people that although painstaking to endure, challenges faced in life should be received in gratitude, for they produce the powerful product of a strong, independent, and self confident individual that is prepared to face the world. She starts with asking you this: Do you feel as though no matter how hard you may try, you can’t ever seem to just get what you want in life? Life is a beautiful struggle.   It is a constant, forever changing battle.   The biggest battle that you will find in life, however, is within you.  To be yourself in a world full of lies, is the most courageous act, and the most attractive quality that one can find.

Each time life may seem overwhelming, place yourself right back where you fell.   This will renew your drive for life, for passion stems from pain.   It is human nature to run at the very mention of the word struggle, or confrontation; it is also human nature to seek comfort in what has not yet transpired, or the “more” that you may seek out of life.  The future is overflowing with limitless possibilities. As you become excited for this wonderful journey into the unknown, you risk losing the chance to discover the mystery behind the next minute, hour, or day of your life.

The present is so undervalued.   You must realize that in order to obtain a future filled with happiness and everything that you ever dreamed possible to have the slightest chance of becoming reality, you must live for NOW.   Much to your dismay, fairy tales do not mislead their readers; when a princess follows her own dreams, her own prince always seems to be waiting in plain sight.

Moral of the story?   Value everything you have now and do not waste your time wishing for more.   If you want to change something about your life, do it.   If you want to reach a goal, work for it.   Most importantly, be yourself every day that you are gifted on this earth, for once you learn not who you want to be, but who you are, you will finally be free to have that ultimate happiness.  Life is not easy, but life is so worth it.

You may be set back once in a while,

but just remember.

It’s where you are, not where you’re gonna be

that guides your fate, and takes you to your destiny.

So chin up

look around

And maybe then you’ll see.

You were put here on this earth

For something more.

Don’t let it go to waste

You are stronger than this.

You’ve only had a taste

of what life has to offer.

I promise, you’ll realize there is more.

Once you recognize what you have,

You’ll see you have that more.

If you find yourself unhappy,

You are living for all the wrong things.

Let your hope and love guide you

to where you want to be.

There’s a long road ahead,

Filled with new and bright days.

If you finally learn to let go

of the past that haunts you this way.

So I think you’re almost ready,

                                                                                                                  To set yourself free.

You’re right where you need to be,

Don’t worry it’ll be okay.

You aren’t given more than you aren’t strong enough to face.

So trust in what, you know is true

And let that be your guide.

For giving up is not an option,

You need to look inside;

Share what you have to offer

It’s your small price to pay, for life.

If you find yourself unhappy,

You are living for all the wrong things.

Let your hope and love guide you

to where you want to be.

There’s a long road ahead,

Filled with new and bright days.

If you finally learn to let go

of the past that haunts you this way.

So I think you’re almost ready,

                                                                                                                                  To set yourself free.

The past is only that;

It’s something you can’t change.

Instead accept that it happened,

Forgive the best you can.

But be smart enough

To realize

It was all a part of the plan,

Cause it made you who you are today…

You’re ready for your stay.

Identity Magazine is all about empowering women to get all A’s in the game of life — Accept. Appreciate. Achieve.TM Every contributor and expert answer the Identity 5 questions in keeping with our theme. As a team, we hope to inspire and motivate ourselves and inspire you to get all A’s.

What have you accepted in your life that took time, physically or mentally?

I have accepted that I will forever be in a constant battle with myself; weaknesses emerge at the appearance of a vulnerable situation.   However, I have learned to counter each negative thought with a positive one, and get stronger at every encounter with myself.   I look back with pride regarding how far I have come.
What do you appreciate about yourself and within your life?

I no longer stress and solely live for the happiness of the future; I live in the present and instantly address a situation that I am not happy with.   Instead of waiting for what I want to come to me, I take action with whatever is in my control.   My happiness with my present life is immeasurable.

What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? What goals do you still have?

My most rewarding achievement in life is to make the most of every situation, and make myself happy whenever I possibly can.   I do not rely on others for my happiness.   I aim to not only continue with this lifestyle, but to help others see that you are your greatest source of strength, love, and happiness; self love will provide the most fulfilling satisfaction, and loving yourself will teach others how to love you.

What is your not-so-perfect way? What imperfections and quirks create your Identity?

I have a humungous heart and passion for life, and the people in my life.   When I love someone, I love them with every bone, muscle, and inch of my being.   My capacity to love and show kindness to others can sometimes be overwhelming, but my deep sense of self and connection with my emotions enables me to truly appreciate everything that matters in my life.

How would you complete the phrase “I Love My…?”

I love my outlook on life; I have learned to prioritize and see what is important, and put aside my worries about aspects of life that are unworthy.   I no longer love in vain; instead, I channel my passion into activities and people who have proven that they deserve it.
