It is easy to blame someone else for your failures; however, one of the most difficult and complex challenges in life is to take responsibility for your own happiness. Never rely on someone to come along and sweep you off your feet. Instead, let yourself fly, and just as you have spread your wings to leave the ground, someone deserving of you must do the same to catch up. Live to inspire others. When you chase someone or something, you are always following behind, just an inch away from what you truly want in life. Instead? Lead your own race. Embrace positivity. Don’t live a life in which you are always lacking what you want the most. Take joy in simplicity; happiness will forever be based on perception.let go 1

Big victories are measured by how far you have traveled in the journey of life. Never see your struggles as failures, learn to see them as stepping stones to renewal, or a life cleanse. Growth arises when you are faced with an unpredictable challenge. This challenge pushes you onto a blank path, one on which you look ahead at a road that is nothing but a blank canvas, an empty page, an unwritten story. The words stop and seconds feel like an eternity; revelation strikes, and writers block ceases to exist as you begin to form the words necessary to give the page meaning, or purpose. A new lesson is learned, a lesson about yourself. Whenever humans have silence surrounding them, they fill the empty air with noise. It is up to you whether you want to just fill the air with sound, or instead, utilize that space to its fullest potential. Create substance. Life will forever be dictated by your perception and your choice to create a sense of purpose. Never just fill the air with noise, let your actions speak of significance in this world. Let your words dictate who you strive to become, even if you are not quite there yet.let go 2

Everyone, at times, must place the bookmark at the climax of their story to take a deep breath to prepare for what is to come. However, one cannot leave the story for long, or all that has already been written or read will seem like ages ago. Life is not a book in which words are already printed; the only author that can manipulate the characters, romance, and events in your story is you. Everyone has discrepancies holding them back, whether it involves a career, a friend, a relationship, or past experiences. Question is, will you allow it to curse you with writers block? Go out and seek inspiration. Fill those blank pages not with I wish, not with what I am going to do, but with I am doing. Action will always possess a greater healing power than time ever will. It is not about time, but what you do with it, that gives life its purpose. Life is so simple when you know exactly what you want from it; if you keep rereading the same page, you will never move onto the next chapter. The past is the past for a reason; allow that reason to motivate you to seek more.

Everything doesn’t happen for a reason, and signs are only signs if we perceive them to be. Events stem only from the choices we make. It’s up to us to make the right ones to lead to our own happiness.

It’s funny how things change so quickly, from the air you breathe to how fast you fall to your knees, to pray for a miracle. Oh how you’ve learned that miracles only come when you accept what is, and let go of what was. Strive to know that what will come will always be out of your control, but you my dear, can steer your sail with each gust of wind that clears the air of clouds. You can seek all you need to know in order to allow yourself to be found. You create a life, a life that can be greater than you’ve ever known. If only you can learn that sometimes, the only thing you can do is to let go. To be happy again, should never seem like a rare event. If you can’t feel that light beaming inside, and you feel that part of you starting to die, let go; because sometimes, the unknown is really the only thing you need to know. I am getting used to being on cloud nine, and I will not let anyone take away my shine.

All I ever wanted was to love, and be loved, in return.

But I decided months ago to throw away, every hope; I couldn’t take the pain.

Love’s shown me, nothing more than endings, beginnings fading quickly, I’d be left empty again.

So I promised that I’m done with all of it,

It wasn’t worth the heart break, so I told myself in vain.

But you forget little girl that you can’t control fate,

And you can’t stop the world.

For it will keep spinning in the life you keep living

Until you get what you deserve.

For there is no pause on what’s to come, and that’s proven in the fact

That as soon as you turn your back on love,

In comes a message from above.

let go 4

I fought so hard not to let go,

But I gave up, and let you in

And for the first time in a long time, you showed me, that I could feel again.

You awakened everything inside me,

Shooting stars did guide me,

And my wall I built so long ago came crumbling down.

You have to learn to let go so you can be free.

Live each day with your heart on your sleeve.

Take each step, day by day.

Time flies so fast, don’t let moments waste away.

Today can be the day to change.

You’ll never know until you try.

And you’ll never soar until you fly.

Realize, you’ll never find anything worthwhile if you still hide.

Identity Magazine is all about empowering women to get all A’s in the game of life — Accept. Appreciate. Achieve.TM Every contributor and expert answer the Identity 5 questions in keeping with our theme. As a team, we hope to inspire and motivate ourselves and inspire you to get all A’s.

What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? What are you still working on accepting?

Sometimes people aren’t dealt such good cards in life, however it is up to that person to take control. Instead of wishing for miracles, make your own happen. Happiness is all about perspective, and it has taken 22 years for me to finally realize this.

What have you learn to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? What are you still working on to appreciate?

I appreciate my confidence; people who are judgmental are only so because they project their insecurities on others. I’ve learned to distance myself from these people; I have discovered a person I never want to let go of, and that will not be shaken by anyone.

What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? What makes YOU most proud? What goals and dreams do you still have?

My most rewarding achievements happen every day; I embrace every moment I have on this earth, and make every day worthwhile one. My goal is to let the unknown be the unknown; for now, it’s okay to not have the answers for everything. Happiness is my guiding factor.

We all have imperfections, so we think. The truth–we are all perfectly imperfect. What are your not-so-perfect ways? What imperfections and quirks create who you are–your Identity?

One of my biggest quirks is that I have the energy of a five year old, although mature, I am forever a kid. Everything about life will forever be an adventure in my eyes.

How often do you take the time out during the day to verbalize what you love about yourself? Do you experience more negative self talk than positive self-talk?

“I Love My…” is an outlet for you to express and appreciate all the positive traits that make you…well… YOU! Sharing what you love about yourself will make you smile, feel empowered, and uplift your spirit and soul. (we assure you!)

Identity challenges you to complete the phrase “I Love My…?”

I love my coping skills. I love that I can turn a negative into a positive, and I have the drive to live a happy life. Recognizing that this takes effort is the first step to getting anything you could ever want from life, it is different for everyone. Wanting different things out of life is what will forever create our own identity.
