I have no words, I am at a struggle. For all that I once knew is beginning to crumble. That vision of what I thought was so true, what I thought was so real is no more, and now I can no longer see what’s in store for me. Can’t you see I’m on bended knee? It lifts me high, then it knocks me down. My doubts left spinning, boisterous sounds. Let this poetry forever be my release, for I choke on the words that I need to speak. And I can’t seem to settle when I reach the peak, can’t close the trap when I’ve caught what I need, anguish built up; let words be my release.
There are three types of people you must meet in life in order to develop into the person that you desire. Some people are in your life just for a season. As quickly as they come into your life, they leave; however, each person you encounter blesses you with an idea, thought, or way of life different from your own. Each character in your story is significant; be a sponge and soak in these blessings, for it is the only way for you to not just grow, but blossom.
Every person is significant. However, only a few people you meet will thoroughly change you; you meet them for a reason. These people have the capability of bringing you up, yes, but most likely, they are the ones to rip you apart. They tear your heart out and turn your soul to ashes, and most of the time, you are left alone picking up each grain, bit by bit until you are once again whole. They create wounds that heal as scars, scars that you will bear for the rest of your life. Leaving you out in the cold, your heart feels as though it turns to stone. And as the waves crash upon your feet, and the storm brews around you creating a haze through which you cannot see past that one painstaking moment of many to come, your feet will sink into the ground. You’ll try to lift, you’ll try to move, but you’ll be stuck, and the beauty in life will be subdued.

Every time I find myself, trusting in another. It always tears me apart, to where I can no longer cover. The pain I feel because you left, me here again. Where is my weatherman to warn me of the next storm?
Then you’ll realize, life does not have a weatherman to warn you of the next storm, and when high tide hits, sometimes your barrier does come tumbling to the ground. You’ll try to piece your thoughts into sound, but you’ll find no avail. You won’t be able to find the wind to set sail, forever drowning, surfacing at times to take in a gasp of air just to survive. Yes, these people will be your downfalls in life, however without these downs, you will never ever be able to see, or truly appreciate, when you find the good in life. If you don’t know what the fall is like, how will you be able to truly experience when you are standing tall?
There is a light, not at the end of the dark tunnel, but within it: you just have to will yourself to see it. Let your dark times serve as a beacon for light, it is always our struggles that brew creativity; they hold within them the most passionate strength of all. When you are left with nothing, isn’t that always when you are motivated to make something of yourself?
If you open your eyes and look around, will yourself to look past the haze, you will find the people who were put in your life to stay there for a lifetime. They can get you past and through anything that life smacks you in the face with. You cannot imagine life before them. These people pop into your life in the blink of an eye when you start to live the life that you want, for they are following the same life philosophy as you do. No matter how frequently you are able to see each other, they will forever have that connection with you; you are family and they are your home. Those people brighten your day just by being near you, and you feel comfort in the unspoken trust that they will never leave or betray you.
However, not everything in life is written in black and white, and life has a funny way of breaking every rule to ever exist. What if you come across someone in life that not only provides this positive feeling yet at the same time, has turned your world upside down? What if this person provides you what you need to grow by knocking you to the ground, yet is standing there to help you right back up when you feel all is lost? What if they are the wave that consumes you, yet the current that sends a life jacket your way? Sometimes, it’s better to leave life as an unsolved mystery, just for a little while, for that mystery is what creates the unexpected, a miracle, and the events in life will always be based on how we perceive them. As you continue to live your life, always remember to be yourself, for there is nothing in the world that is more valuable, unique, and beautiful than honesty. So let your guard down; it’s how you let people in.
Hush my dear, you must hide your tears, shield the world from your pain. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and count to ten, even though your beating heart is pounding out of your chest. Quietly, make your moves, even though life seems cruel, it’s not that the world is ending soon. You’re just trying to find your way on this path that you create, and your life has just begun. You are learning that it takes more than strength to be brave. It takes courage to face your fears head on, and it takes hope, that everything won’t be dead and gone, tomorrow. And the drive to continue on will be born again, at the rise of the sun. If you learn to live each day like it’s your last one. Show them that you care until you’re left bare. Give until you no longer can stand the fall. But dark is where you found your light, after all. It’s in the hard times, the tears, the wishing you were near the end, that you found the answers so you no longer need to pretend. You find, my dear, that you are always braver, near the end. There’s hope in that, my friend.
I may be a small girl, but I live in a big world,
with big dreams planned for me.
My future is lit, by the desire that guides me,
farther than the eye can see.
Keep moving forward as a new door opens
each day a new road block forms.
It seems to repair itself,
as the construction crew moves on,
in sight yet just beyond reach.
This feeling is not new to me.
Each step you take, on the road to hope,
is a step towards what you want.
Don’t let it go to waste.
Jump right in and then be brave,
and send every negative thought to its grave.
You gotta keep living to find your stories,
to be your own reporter live in your glory
days, to capture your readers, you must go above and beyond
what they expect.
It’s how you’ll surpass the test of time.
So look me in the eyes, my friend, to know I’m true with what I have to say.
I know myself, and I know what feels so right, deep within my core.
I wasn’t born into this life, but it’s how I will survive, and thrive,
in the life I earned,
and not a day goes by that I don’t know,
how lucky I am to have the strength to keep marching on.

Identity Magazine is all about empowering women to get all A’s in the game of life — Accept. Appreciate. Achieve.TM Every contributor and expert answer the Identity 5 questions in keeping with our theme. As a team, we hope to inspire and motivate ourselves and inspire you to get all A’s.
What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? What are you still working on accepting?
I have learned to love my heart and my unique view of the world. I have also accepted that I have lived through many hardships, however, through these difficult times I have developed the empathy needed to understand others on a whole new level.
What have you learn to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? What are you still working on to appreciate?
I appreciate that I am always true to my heart; no matter what occurs in life, I never let the standards of others who define me, weaken me to defining myself. I always express what I am thinking or how I feel without fear of rejection, for I always seek truth and honesty.
What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? What makes YOU most proud? What goals and dreams do you still have?
I am proud of the person I have become. I may not have been born into this life, but I sure am thriving in the life that I created for myself. I hope to continue to follow my heart and pursue a career that is outside of the box.
We all have imperfections, so we think. The truth–we are all perfectly imperfect. What are your not-so-perfect ways? What imperfections and quirks create who you are–your Identity?
I am a silly nutball who loves deeply and tries not to ever take life too seriously. I always have a positive outlook, even when circumstances do not expect it. I always project a good mood, even when I am feeling down.
“I Love My…” is an outlet for you to express and appreciate all the positive traits that make you…well… YOU! Sharing what you love about yourself will make you smile, feel empowered, and uplift your spirit and soul. (we assure you!)
Identity challenges you to complete the phrase “I Love My…?”
I love my passion, and no amount of negativity could make me hold back from expressing my love to its fullest potential. One day, someone will be ready to receive it. Until then? I’ll remain grounded so I am ready for when the next storm erupts.
