Everywhere I look I’m seeing posts about detoxing and getting ready for the beach. When can we stop this marketing madness? Start to detox in a variety of ways with a healthy approach.
I believe it’s safe to say spring is FINALLY here. Along with the fresh air, vibrant flowers blooming in every direction, rebirth of our individual energies, it’s time to get our spring detox on.
Nope. I’m not sending you to purchase the potent powders, pricey pills, or prune juices. Maybe throw back a prune juice or two–that’s not harmful. I am all about that bass, (love me some Meghan Trainor) but not all about the quick fix cleansing fads that pop up every year.
Choose to continue or start this spring with a little extra spunk in your step and a little more sparkle to your smile by implementing these tips. I recommend the below because I’ve personally taken action to continue my individual growth.
I’ve always been a healthy woman and after my days of trying all the unhealthy fad diets, I stick to enjoying everything in life in moderation. I’ve proven to my body and myself that this is how I stay mentally in tact and physically in shape. I’m nine months out from giving natural birth to twins, and have used the below tips to help my speedy recovery. I’ve lost my 65 pounds of baby weight and I’m now at the stage of bringing back my muscle. Not once did I find myself stressed out or bashing my body because I kept everything in moderation–transitioning into a fitness and diet routine and never deprived myself of certain foods or alcohol.
Fitness and Diet
Start small. Many of us go “all in” before really thinking through our goals and knowing what are the best steps to take. Jumping to extremes or going full force can make it harder for us to maintain. Make a list of all the things you would like to work on, evolve, or change in your diet. Then read this article on how to eat clean, get active, and stay positive for the long term. Detox at it’s best.
Water Intake
You can easily fit in those 8 glasses of water a day. I struggle during the winter to drink my 8 glasses of water because I’m cold and prefer warm tea, coffee or hot cocoa. I found a painless way to fit in those 8 glasses of water and trim down my eating at the same time. The secret is to drink (or chug like I do) a glass before and after breakfast, before and after lunch, and before and after dinner. Yes, I know that doesn’t add up to 8, it’s 6 glasses. Those last two cups of water can be your decision on when to squeeze those in. Maybe chug two glasses before breakfast and two after dinner, and voila, done. Not so bad, huh? Then you are full from all that water intake, and your food and snack cravings will minimize. Detox at it’s best.
Spring Clean (house, friends, colleagues, and family)
It’s not a secret many of us use the spring to clean out our closets and everything from our bedrooms to the kitchen. We feel so stinkin’ brand new and accomplished. In addition to cleaning out your house, office, and car, how about those colleagues or family members? I always sit back in my clean house to reflect on business relationships and friendships. Are they supporting my dreams and passion? Are they supporting my family and bringing love and joy? Reflect on how these relationships are serving you as well as how are you serving them? Are you giving them your best self? When you finish your day, would you give yourself all A’s?
There you have it, 3 pretty simple steps for your detox guide. Keep in mind there are thousands of ways to detox and types of detox. Reflect on what you want to cleanse, freshen up, and clean out. Then, detox at your pace and keep it safe.

What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? What are you still working on accepting?
I’ve tried every quick fix diets and detox cleanses back during my college days and right after. I’ve come to accept that although they may work for a quick burst of WATER weight, they do work for steady and healthy weight loss. Cleanses shouldn’t be marketed for weight loss.
What have you learn to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? What are you still working on to appreciate?
I appreciate all of the options we have to detox. It’s important to be aware of the pros and cons to best serve you and your body. I’ve grateful to know what works for me and helps me perform my best.
What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? What makes YOU most proud? What goals and dreams do you still have?
Letting go of the fad diet obsession years ago. Such a HUGE relief to understand that health physically and mentally comes with time and knowledge–not in 10 days.
We all have imperfections, so we think. The truth–we are all perfectly imperfect. What are your not-so-perfect ways? What imperfections and quirks create who you are–your Identity?
I have so many imperfections that I’ve learned to embrace. My willingness to try anything and everything from cleanses, workouts, living a certain way, trying anything…has made me adaptable and curious every day. I am so not set in my ways, which I sometimes feel insecure because I feel that maybe I lack strong character and beliefs. I quickly get over that thought because I love who I am and my curious and easy going character.
“I Love My…” is an outlet for you to express and appreciate all the positive traits that make you…well… YOU! Sharing what you love about yourself will make you smile, feel empowered, and uplift your spirit and soul. (we assure you!) Identity challenges you to complete the phrase “I Love My…?”
I love my curious and easy going character.
