Shifting Appreciation

What I do own, is looking back on all my choices, especially the ones that were “knee jerk”, and not well thought out – they too have been blessings in disguise.

The moments in my life when I felt, and feel, empty and fragmented, I remember, life is always about choice. These experiences teach me to dig more deeply, to work through Soul clutter to achieve a real change in my life.

I am standing up and claiming out loud–I have made some poor choices in my life. It’s true, and as I say this, I notice I feel empty and fragmented; a bit heavy too. I also stand up and claim, I have made some amazing choices in my life. I notice I feel light, creative, energized, and motivated to move into action.

So what is the point? Appreciating where I place my focus allows me to interpret my choices with a different perspective. My friends, this awareness will shift your life!

I recently heard of two individual families experiencing tragedy, beyond anything I can imagine. It is as if God was playing an awful prank. The perspective I needed for my own life slammed me in my heart. The difficulties and challenges I have and am currently experiencing pale in comparison. With that in mind, this New Moon is about new beginnings, in attitude and action.

What I do own, is looking back on all my choices, especially the ones that were “knee jerk”, and not well thought out — they too have been blessings in disguise. The ugly, hurtful conversations, moments of complete misunderstanding and irritation, I can reflect with greater clarity that I chose to color my perspective to protect myself. I did not want to appreciate the truth of the circumstance, it was simply easier to avoid it; learning to appreciate difficult lessons along the journey of life.

The moments in my life when I felt, and feel, empty and fragmented, I remember, life is always about choice. These experiences teach me to dig more deeply, to work through Soul clutter to achieve a real change in my life.

In balance to the difficult times, my “knee jerk” reaction to heart centered knowing and inner guidance are inspiring and have provided me with tremendous creativity, joy, and passion. As my Dad taught me, it is just as easy to be kind as it is to be mean or cruel. By consciously choosing to be awake, aware and present to the circumstance in my life, I am able to be kind and caring to myself first, then others.

What successes have truly supported my shift? By owning my truth! I love speaking to groups and individuals, guiding them in shifting their attention from the details of the mind, to the feelings in their body as a tool for creating shift in the present moment. It is a simple strategy that diffuses the energy of negative conversations. By appreciating the body’s wisdom, and “trusting your gut”, difficult moments are transformed.

As Zig Ziglar stated; FEAR is simply “False Evidence Appearing Real”. What are you willing to appreciate in yourself with a new perspective?

Identity Magazine is all about empowering women to get all A’s in the game of life — Accept. Appreciate. Achieve.TM Every contributor and expert answer the Identity 5 questions in keeping with our theme. As a team, we hope to inspire and motivate ourselves and inspire you to get all A’s.

What have you accepted in your life that took time, physically or mentally?

I have accepted that it may take me much longer than others to understand certain information. I used to believe I was unable to grasp the concepts that seemed difficult. Now, I have accepted that I simply have a different manner of learning, and that it may take me much longer to accomplish what others to very quickly, and I no longer degrade myself.

What do you appreciate about yourself and within your life?

I have accepted that my life is going to constantly teach me new and interesting ways to appreciate my inner strength and courage. Rather than fighting these experiences, I am learning, to go with the “flow”!

What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? What goals do you still have?

I recently stood up in front of a crowd of individuals, who I had never met, shared my story and my tools, while feeling completely confident. Now, I know I can provide this in new arenas.

What is your not-so-perfect way? What imperfections and quirks create your Identity?

I love burned toast! Which has become known as “burnt offerings” in my home. I don’t hide it, and I enjoy my ability to smile as my family asks: “what burnt offering did you make today?”
