Do you know how to Instagram?
Summer is here which means backyard barbecues, trips to the beach, pool parties and for some of us, summer flings! Summer has culturally started in the U.S. —— marking a shift in mindset for retailers across the globe.
As the “slow” season starts to brew, there is one lingering question all brands must answer: are you ready for summer?
Well, if you are randomly scrolling through Instagram and liking a few photos, posting a close up portrait of your baby’s face for the fourth time in a week works just fine for an individual using the platform.
But you need to have a solid plan of action (so you know how to Instagram) if you expect to build a strong community and see sales growth for your business. Your strategy should cover the following.
1. What’s your theme?
Not sure what to post? Mix it up, then mix and match. Revolving different themes for content will keep your followers on their toes, and help you achieve your goals. Look at Paypal, their Instagram page says anything but a boring transaction system.
They use the customer experience to generate the feeling that you get after using their product, which really resonates with their followers.
You’ll want to post on a regular basis without overwhelming your followers with too many posts. Start with one a day at different times throughout the day. You can then use programs like Hootsuite or Later to find the most optimal time for posting.
This is when your posts will get maximum engagement. Once you know the best time to post, a content calendar is great for keeping track of what will be posted and when.
3. Brand Persona
The look and feel of your Instagram page should identify with your core customers. For example, are you targeting millennials or seniors? Do you have the right messaging and voice that appeals to them? Are you using emojis in your captions? Which hashtags are you using?
How about the photos, are they professionally photographed? Are you using UGC (user generated content)? No matter who your target market is, your brand needs a consistent tone so it remains distinct. The styleguide that you create for your brand should be implemented in your social media strategy as well.
4. Communication and Engagement
The art of communication is the language of Instagram. You should have a plan set for interacting with other accounts (liking, commenting, reposting) and responding to the incoming comments on your own account. Your plan needs to cover the how and when because timing is key.
If you are thinking about automating your engagement, please use caution. Instagram’s new algorithm favors popular posts and those are the ones that show up in your follower’s feed. No matter how awesome your new post is, if it doesn’t generate enough engagement, the algorithm will not pick it up.
Hence, it is crucial to engage with your followers and IG community to get the maximum exposure.For the most part, the visual content that truly captivates Instagram audiences must be several strategic steps beyond “here’s what we sell.”

I have accepted everything that has happened in my life, and my life as it is now. I accept that life is unpredictable, nothing is permanent, everything changes, and I have gone through many events and experiences that have impacted and transformed me to who I am as of this very moment. I have accepted to embrace everything, the good and the bad.
2. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?
I appreciate that I am in this world as a spiritual being. I am a work in progress, continually appreciating.
3. What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? Tell us not only what makes YOU most proud but also share the goals and dreams that you still have.
Achievement means different things to different people. I can say that I had a successful job on wall street making multiple six figures, but that’s not achievement to me because it is all on the outside. My most rewarding achievement is leaving that life behind, choosing to be happy, and finding my center.
4. Of course, we all have imperfections, or so we think. In truth, we are all perfectly imperfect. What are your not-so-perfect ways? Likewise, what imperfections and quirks create who you are–your Identity?
Choosing a life of entrepreneurship has helped to relieve me of my desires. Without any desires, I feel liberated. With liberation comes many great things. For example, I used to get distracted easily and not pay attention to whatever was happening at that moment. I am now more aware, and more conscious.
5. “I Love My…” is an outlet for you to appreciate and express all the positive traits that make you…well…YOU! In fact, sharing what you love about yourself will make you smile, feel empowered, and uplift your spirit and soul. (We assure you!)
