Whether you’ve just had a baby recently, or you’ve had kids for many years, one thing that moms can attest to is that their fashion and wardrobe tends to take a backseat.
Let’s face it, you are far too busy with other things to worry about what you’re wearing and how you look, but does it have to be that way? By spending just a little time on yourself and updating the items in your wardrobe, you can actually kick that typical mom look to the curb, look fabulous, and feel fabulous.
Becoming a mom doesn’t have to mean the end of style and fashion in your life, rather it’s about embracing a new look that works with your lifestyle. Here we’ll take a look at some tips and advice on how you can give that mom wardrobe and look a total overhaul.
Inject a Little Designer Fashion into Your Wardrobe
One of the greatest ways to take your wardrobe to the next level and step out of that mom look is to invest in a couple of high-end or designer pieces.
While these usually cost more up-front, the construction and materials used are far superior to that of discount clothing. That means you’ll have the pieces for many years to come.
Rather than pick a piece of clothing that you can only wear once in a while, why not go for designer shoes that work with your wardrobe on a daily basis?
Take a look at the Balenciaga sneakers available through SSENSE. SSENSE is an online retailer that specializes in designer and high-end brands, which means you’re going to find the best of the best in the fashion world.
Ensure Your Clothing Fits Properly
Here’s a tip that doesn’t even require you to head to the store, rather it’s just about taking stock of what’s currently in your wardrobe. Wearing clothing that is either too big or too small for you is not only unflattering, it’s also uncomfortable.
Be sure to try everything on, making piles of items that you can give away or donate, and those that need to go in the trash. Once you’ve gone through everything, you can figure out what items you need to replace in the proper sizes.
Look for Makeup That is Multi-Tasking
Now let’s face it, as a mom, the last thing you have time for is standing in front of a mirror for any length of time attempting to do a full face of makeup.
This doesn’t mean you have to do without; instead, it’s about finding smart products that perform multiple functions. This will cut down on the number of products you need to use to feel put together, which means less time getting ready.
Some of the must-have products include a tinted BB or CC cream with built-in SPF protection. These types of creams act as your moisturizer, often with a serum in them that targets a specific concern. They can include a primer, SPF protection, and the tint evens out your skin tone.
A bronzer is another must-have product that can be used to give your face a natural glow, and can even be used as eyeshadow. Finish things off with mascara and a tinted lip balm (also with SPF protection) and you’ll look totally put together in just a couple of quick minutes.
Give Your Hair a Fresh Cut
Another thing that moms are guilty of is pushing their own hair care to the side since they are so busy looking after the kids. Before you know it, you’re throwing your hair back in a ponytail each day or wearing a hat.
Getting a fresh cut will help to give your hairstyle and body, and you can speak to your stylist about choosing a style that is low-maintenance. You aren’t necessarily going to have the time to blow dry it, curl it, use a straightening iron, etc., so wash and wear is typically a top priority for moms.
There’s no need to stop at your cut though, as a few strategically placed highlights can also help to brighten up your look and instantly make your hair look trendier and more stylish.
The thing to keep in mind is that if you choose to add color to your hair, there will be upkeep involved. Again, talk to your stylist about what would be a low maintenance technique and color before making any decisions.
A Whole New You
Each of these tips will help you to create a whole new look for yourself, one that fits with your lifestyle and leaves you feeling put together and confident. This will inspire you to keep it up and continue to make an effort on yourself.

I have come to accept my failures as well as my strengths in dealing with day to day struggles. I understand that sometimes situations cannot always be controlled and that I should learn to appreciate the good times and accept that whatever happens, happens.
Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?
