The day I left my job my first phone call was to my first mentor, Victor.
I was crying with so many mixed emotions and as I walked to my car leaving my corporate job after 5 years, it was quiet, lonely, scary, and so surreal.
Was this really happening? Did I actually achieve one of my initials goals in the search for the career I wanted?
Yes.
Living in fear.
I hated my job and stuck it out for 5 years because I was afraid to be different. Although it didn’t start out that bad, as I evolved, and as I learned the behind-the-scenes of corporations, the days of staring at my grey cubicle walls got longer. And manipulating faces in photoshop to show scales of cosmetic procedures, for example, lip injections, felt like I was living a useless life.
I thought, “what the fuck am I doing to myself” so many times. But, I was worried and scared about the insane amount of debt and the fact I was living back at home with my parents—I thought I had to simply suck it up.
A moment of clarity landed on my lap.
About 3 years into my job I had an intuitive hit. I wanted to feel better about myself, I wanted more passion, and I wanted TO GET OUT OF DEPRESSION.
Because my job entailed boring medical work and mostly photoshopping faces and body parts, including my own (a separate story I will share another time), I was starting to feel like my world was fake and meaningless. I needed help, some kind of inspiration, love and find a way to not feel so lost and alone.
I wanted to feel UPLIFTED! Because I was already feeling down and disappointed with my circumstances, my day-to-day work was a catalyst for making everything worse. I only saw the ‘negative’ side of everything and found myself always complaining.
“AH HA”!! I actually felt the tingling in my chest. I realized how much my environment was affecting my state of mind, and IN that moment, I realized I was the ONLY ONE who can HELP MYSELF get out of this. It was up to me!
Tired of all of the negative shit around me, I decided to create a magazine that would share real, authentic and vulnerable stories to heal myself of this inner Mess’. I created the solution I was looking for. THIS was going to uplift me, and I was going to help other women who felt just like I did.
I decided that this magazine was going to be my passion project. And so it was.
I created my own passion—what you now know as IdentityMagazine.net started as a passion project for my own healing.
I had enough of feeling like shit and I was sick of blaming others for it. It wasn’t working.
It wasn’t comfortable to realize this, because blaming others can feel so TRUE, but I found it to be very disempowering. I was completely JOY-LESS.
NOBODY WILL BE IN CHARGE OF MY HAPPINESS. I am not assigning my emotions to anyone. I had to listen to that voice and my therapist helped of course.
And so, I want you to know – you are responsible for your own happiness and you can be the one that creates it too.
It starts with one moment of clarity, one AH-HA, one bit of awareness and acceptance.
What has been one moment of clarity that has changed everything for you?
Go create your own passion project, your own solution to happiness and success. For me it was a magazine, for you it could be something completely different.

What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? Additionally, what are you still working on accepting? Now, we’re not talking about resignation, rather stepping into, embraced, and owned.
I’ve become accepting of my imperfect “mom tactics”. It’s such a mental game being a mother because you constantly worry about doing the right thing, saying the right thing. However, all the previous mothers are right, we do the best we can. The most important is showing love and kindness and teaching our kids that.
I’m always working on less yelling and stronger communication with my twins.
Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?
I so appreciate being a mother and the Universe giving me the opportunity to be a mom. I’ve experienced a messy miscarriage and the blessing to then have spontaneous twins… that’s a miracle I won’t take for granted.
Share with us one of your most rewarding achievements in life? Tell us not only what makes YOU most proud but also share the goals and dreams that you still have.
In addition to this little mom win this week, I’m so proud of surviving and thriving the first 5 years as a Mom. I’m proud of my husband and our communication and our promise to support one another. It’s not perfect, but both of us put the effort in.
