What can you do to be happy? Or if you’re reasonably content, what can you do to be happier?

Are you a happy person experiencing happiness all around you? If you think deeply about this question, you may be surprised to discover that you’re only happy when things are going your way. Since this may not happen as often as you’d like, you may actually be miserable most of the time.

However, you’re not alone. Although many people often make a show of being happy and carefree, deep down inside they often feel a low hum of anxiety about the future or regret about the past running. Ironically, many people are oblivious that a hidden discontent runs in the background of their minds.

What can you do to be happy? Or if you’re reasonably content, what can you do to be happier?

The answer is to increase your sense of security by starting your own business, improve how you feel by enhancing your physical fitness, and renewing your sense of wonder by studying something fun.

Start Your Own Business

Only a few people do work that they love and enjoy a lavish income. Most people work at jobs where they feel disengaged. Others may have found the work that they enjoy doing but don’t earn enough to cover their basic living expenses.

The best way to find work that you love to do and earn a good living is to start your own business. Since it’s your own business, you can choose the line of work that you find enjoyable. What’s more, since you enjoy the work, you’re more likely to work hard at it and rapidly grow your business.

If, for instance, you’re a highly creative person, then start a business where you can express your creative streak.

Here are some ideas to consider:

Do you love to read and talk about all the exciting new ideas you’ve come across?

Then become a fiction or non-fiction self-published author on Amazon Kindle. You can find many buy books on how to become an Amazon author at the Amazon Kindle bookstore.

Do you often have people in stitches over your witty comments?

Then start a blank t-shirt business. Monetize your gift for ad hoc one-liners by getting low-cost blank t-shirts from a website like URL and then sell your shirts on a website like Etsy. ShirtSpace’s wholesale blank t-shirts, for example, will provide you with the blank canvas you need to share your wit with the world.

Do you love to draw or paint?

Then, sell your work and teach other people through tutorials on how to be artists, too. You could approach local coffee shops and ask them if they will exhibit some of your work as part of their décor and you can create a website where you sell online video-based lessons.

Enhance Your Physical Fitness

When you adopt a fitness-based lifestyle that focuses on regular exercise and healthy eating, it will make a huge difference in the quality of your life. You won’t only look good, but you’ll feel terrific, too. Being happy can help you be healthy and being healthy can make you happy.

Study Something Fun

It’s easy to feel jaded about the world. Newscasters often fill the news media with distressing stories and casual conversations often focus on everything that’s going wrong in the world.

Although you may also have lost interest in studying anything after many long years of boring formal education, it’s possible to renew your sense of wonder by taking free MOOC classes.

These are higher education courses offered by some renowned universities around the world. Find something that you would consider fun to learn and sign up.

The world can be a fascinating place if you look at it from the perspective of an autodidact, a self-taught person.

Happiness Is a Choice

Many people strive to earn happiness through achievement. Others hope to stumble upon it through a congruence of fortuitous accidents.

However, it’s much more practical to think of happiness as something we create by taking care of our basic physical needs, acquiring a sense of optimum wellness, and finding new ways to increase our self-expression.

Identity Magazine is all about guiding women to discover their powers of Self-Acceptance, Appreciation, and Personal Achievement.

We ask that every contributor and expert answer the Identity questions in keeping with our theme. Their answers can be random and in the moment or they can be aligned with the current article they have writtenIn that way, and as a team, we hope to encourage and motivate each other, thus inspiring you to Get All A’s.

What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? Additionally, what are you still working on accepting? Now, we’re not talking about resignation, rather stepping into, embraced, and owned.

I’ve learned to accept that we have to all appreciate the little things and to not take anything for granted.

Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?

I appreciate and I’m blessed to have a loving family and friends in my life.

Share with us one of your most rewarding achievements in life? Tell us not only what makes YOU most proud but also share the goals and dreams that you still have.

My biggest achievement is graduating from Arizona State University in 2013!
