Singlehood Is My Choice

Singlehood

Singlehood made me realize the importance of mental health improvement.

Do you know more than 51% of citizens of the U.S.A. are enjoying being single? Like others, I am also single, and I would give anything to stay single for the rest of my life.

Nowadays, many people are choosing to be single because there are several benefits to it:

  • restriction-free life
  • freedom to decide
  • responsibility of no one else
  • many other benefits

It’s Significance in Today’s World:

According to some facts:

People are choosing unmarried life over married life because of its importance and perks.

  • Single people tend to sleep better.
  • They are less likely to go under credit card debt.
  • Single people have more committed friendships.
  • They have more time and efficiency in managing between parties and house chore.
  • Single people can get employment more swiftly.
  • They can take risks easily.

Why Do I Like It?

My story goes back five years when I was in a serious relationship with a guy. We lived together in my house and he was a lawyer. Everything was normal, or maybe I was pretending it to be. He used to come home earlier from work than me and I had to make dinner and do all the house chores by myself as if it was mandatory of me.

He used to make me forcefully hangout with his coupled friends even when I showed no interest and he never appreciated me for my achievements.

Instead, he got jealous of the pay-scale I was earning and always made excuses to give a share in my apartment’s rent. I was still pretending to be okay with such behavior.

In fact, our society has set such standards that, to not be in a relationship is a matter of low-standards.

One day I realized that why bear all this? Why pretend when I can find happiness myself? That day was a massive turnaround in my life. I didn’t know what to do or where to start, and I didn’t expect to become sentimental.

We started fighting on stuff more often than not. He would get so annoyed just because I started talking about myself first and not him. And then, he dumped me!

After that relationship, I finally had the time to live my life the way I always wanted to. I shopped, rested, laughed, and enjoyed life on a whole new level. I found myself in complete peace and serenity, and that’s when I made singlehood my choice.

Joys of Singlehood:

There are a lot of perks, one would enjoy being single. Some of them are common, and numerous vary depending on the situation of every individual. Among various here are a few common reasons:

a) Be your boss

Have you ever been bossed around?

When I was in a relationship, everything revolved around my partner’s interests. Now I get to shop the groceries, pay utilities, and manage all other finances by myself and it makes me so happy and accomplished.

With singlehood comes the greatest joy of being your boss, and managing work-life balance altogether.

b) Have complete privacy

We all love having privacy, right? I know we all wish for it every time, but some get more and some less. Having a private life is the most amazing trait of singlehood for me because of my past experiences.

My boyfriend used to make a lot of snoring, which disturbed my sleep every night. He also took more than half the bed space, which left me bounding to sleep straight or else!

I love relaxing on my terms and by myself now. Like watching a movie, reading a novel, or just lying down with complete serenity that takes me into a deep sleep.

c) Break the rule

Having to make up an excuse to anyone regarding your actions is the worst thing of all.

Back in the days, my boyfriend used to judge me for the clothes I wore for work, for the things I watched on TV, for the type of friends I have, which all made me so distressing from the inside.

But thanks to the single life, I don’t have to go through this scenario ever again. I love having to wake up late on the weekends, making breakfast for dinner, and having a friend over in the middle of the night because no one’s judging me or wanting explanations from me now.

d) Have more friends

According to research, Dr. Bella DePaulo surveyed that single people have more friends than married people do, and she is right.

I was so busy in intensely hanging with my boyfriend’s friends that I was becoming distant from my friends, including the two-three close friends I had. But now I enjoy the company of people I love the most without having to say early goodbyes because I have all the spare time to spend and I made some new friends too.

e) Work on yourself

Do you ever feel like you don’t have time for yourself in a relationship? Well, I’ve also gone through this phase too.

I did not have any time left for my mental and physical healthcare when I had a boyfriend to look after too. Additionally, he never encouraged me to go to therapists just because he wanted me to save the money for all the other household expenses.

Singlehood made me realize the importance of mental health improvement. Since then, I started taking therapeutic measures, and I’m happily satisfied.

Wrapping Up:

Adopting a livelihood where there’s no one else to take for but yourself is the best thing in the world. I am hopeful that you found some motivating facts and fascinating insights here.

We ask that every contributor and expert answer the Identity questions in keeping with our theme. Their answers can be random and in the moment or they can be aligned with the current article they have writtenIn that way, and as a team, we hope to encourage and motivate each other, thus inspiring you to Get All A’s.

1. What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? Additionally, what are you still working on accepting? Now, we’re not talking about resignation, rather stepping into, embraced, and owned.

I have accepted the joys of being single. I mean, no one will deny the happiness you get when you get home from a busy day at work just to enjoy the company of yourself.

I have been in bad relationships, which taught me that self-care is equally important as breathing air to live a life. I’m learning to acknowledge my flaws. And live a life that is full of contentment and whole-heartedness towards a positive mindset.

2. Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?

Everyone has their good and bad habits. But the ones who succeed are those who appreciate their goods and work on their bad habits. I’m also on that path.

I appreciate my flaws too because nobody is completely perfect, whether it’s their physical appearance or mental state of mind. So I think trying is the key to achieving anything and everything in life.

3. Share with us one of your most rewarding achievements in life? Tell us not only what makes YOU most proud but also share the goals and dreams that you still have.

My greatest achievement would be making someone feel better by counseling them. And I’m living my dream to the fullest.

One of my goals is to establish an N.G.O someday that helps women financially to make them positively powerful in this world and to educate underprivileged children free of cost. And I’m continually working towards my dreams and goals.
