Relationship Goals and Red Flags You Need to Know

Here are a few red flags it can be helpful to look out for if you suspect that there could be trouble in your relationship.

The relationship goals of falling in love can be an exciting experience, and a committed relationship can feel rewarding. However, even the best of relationships may hit rough patches from time to time.

It may be difficult to tell if your relationship is simply hitting a small speed bump, or if there could be more to the situation. Here are a few red flags it can be helpful to look out for if you suspect that there could be trouble in your relationship.

Lack of Trust

One of the biggest indicators that you may have a serious issue on your hands is a lack of trust within the relationship. Trust can be a very basic building block of a healthy relationship, and if it isn’t there, it could lead to problems.

Lack of trust can manifest itself in many ways, one of them being signs of jealousy like constant suspicious questions, or demands to know what you do when not together.

Poor Communication

Another possible indicator of trouble is poor communication. For many, having a healthy and balanced relationship may rely on steady communication.

If there is ever a break down in this, it could lead one or both of the people in the relationship feeling frustrated or misunderstood. While in many cases it can be possible to work on communication issues, if your partner has no interest in working on them, it may be a red flag.

Unpredictability

Dealing with any kind of unpredictability can be stressful, and this can be especially true when it comes to relationships. Whether your partner has a short temper or a habit of making plans and not telling you about them until the last moment, there are many kinds of unpredictability that can put a strain on relationships.

Also, when a partner displays unpredictable behavior, it could be a sign of more serious personality issues that could deepen over time.

Lack of Family Support

When you love someone, it is only natural that you would want your family and friends to like them as well. Of course, what you think of your partner may ultimately be more important than what others think, but if no one in your circle seems to have a favorable opinion of your partner, you may need to look-out.

Often, those close to you may pick up on things that you might not see yourself. Even if no one has anything overtly negative to say about your partner, if they don’t seem to share your excitement about them being in your life it could be a sign that they may not be the one for you.

The Bottom Line

Romantic relationships can be exciting and rewarding, but they can be complicated at times, too. Because of this, it may sometimes feel difficult to tell whether an issue you’re experiencing is normal, or a sign of something more concerning.

Most relationships may have their share of ups and downs. Yet, if you find your relationship is going through more rough periods than anything else, it may be time to consider if it’s the right relationship for you.

No one but you may know for sure what the right move is. Taking some time to educate yourself about relationship red flags may make it easier for you to make a decision.

2. Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?

I’m grateful for the resilience that my trials have instilled in me. As hard as my trials have been they have helped me empathize with others more and to become a better person.
