The Holidays are coming and we don’t know what the end of the year will bring, but we do know working out and eating well will keep us healthy. Since the pandemic more people are working out at home, but between the kids, the job, the Zoom calls, and all the other things 2020 has thrown at us, it was hard to find the time or motivation to keep up with an effective fitness routine.
If it were easy, everyone would be walking around strong and fit. Most of us just want to be healthy. But it takes commitment and a little bit of planning. I would love to share with you what steps I have put in place that work for me and what I tell my clients over and over again.
Step #1: Plan
Plan ahead and be specific on which days, what time, and where you are going to workout. Put it on the calendar! You wouldn’t miss an important meeting with someone else so don’t cancel on yourself!
Step #2: What to Wear
Have your workout clothes ready. These days, many are working out at home, and in my opinion, it’s easier to jump up and workout! Set your clothes out in your bedroom or bathroom.
Step #3: Which Workout
Know what you are going to do for a workout. Going out for a run? Plan your route and have your gadgets for tracking miles, steps, or calories ready. Following a workout video? Have your equipment set and ready to go. If you enjoy listening to music while working out, have that fun playlist ready.
Step #4: Get Out There
When it’s time to get your workout done, don’t think about it! Get out there! If you workout early in the morning, set your alarm and when it goes off, DO NOT hit snooze. DO NOT let that little voice in your head talk you out of it. Jump out of bed and just get it done, everything is in place ready to go anyway!
Having these systems in place will create habits. And daily habits build and create long term results!
Identity Magazine is all about guiding women to discover their powers of Self-Acceptance, Appreciation, and Personal Achievement.
We ask that every contributor and expert answer the Identity questions in keeping with our theme. Their answers can be random and in the moment or they can be aligned with the current article they have written. In that way, and as a team, we hope to encourage and motivate each other, thus inspiring you to Get All A’s.
1. What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? Additionally, what are you still working on accepting? Now, we’re not talking about resignation, rather stepping into, embraced, and owned.
I’ve accepted that I can do anything, but I can’t do everything. There are moments where mom life + biz life is not balanced and I am still working on giving myself grace when they can’t be perfectly balanced.
2. Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?
I’ve learned to appreciate being able to build a business with a toddler and a newborn during a pandemic. Although all the distractions add a level of difficulty, I appreciate being able to impact many lives without having to leave my house and able to stay safe.
3. Share with us one of your most rewarding achievements in life? Tell us not only what makes YOU most proud but also share the goals and dreams that you still have.
One of my most rewarding achievements is changing my career that I dreaded to pursuing my passion in fitness and wellness and making it my own business. I’ve just scratched the surface have many more goals and dreams to impact lives globally!
