When you are suffering from pain, especially in your back, you will naturally restrict your movements, which can affect what you do in your day-to-day life.

Back pain is no joke, if you’ve ever experienced it you will know that it can be one of the most frustrating, and difficult things to live with. No matter what the cause of your back pain it always seems as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But this doesn’t have to be the case, if we take care of our back, and move forward in a positive way to avoid further injury or discomfort, then we should find ourselves avoiding any unnecessary pain and discomfort in the future.

There are a few specific things that we can do that mean we can help ourselves, and there are many professionals out there who can also point us in the right direction, but why is taking care of our back the best gift we will give to ourselves this year?

Easier Movement

Flinching every time you move, or being caught off guard by us back spasm can be a quick way to ruin your day. It is uncomfortable and can put us into a state of fear waiting for the next pain to happen. So taking care of your back by visiting a chiropractor such as Lone Star Spine & Rehab, can help you avoid these little shocks and minutes of pain throughout the day.

There may be many reasons why you may be looking for help in this area, and searching for advice from a personal injury chiropractor, or a car accident chiropractor can be difficult at times but talking to a professional is always a good start.

A great chiropractor can help you with movements, posture, exercises and more which will enable you to move more freely, and in turn prevents further problems. Many patients report feeling a “new lease of life“ when they are overcoming their back problems. And the only complaint tends to be that they left it too long. This chiropractic help can help you feel much more fluid in your motions, and improve your strength and ability as well as reducing the back pain overall.

Fewer Restrictions

When you are suffering from pain, especially in your back, you will naturally restrict your movements, which can affect what you do in your day-to-day life. For example, not wishing to go on a family walk due to being in pain afterwards, or avoiding long drives because you know what this will cause you afterwards, this means that you miss out on so many things, on a daily basis. It can be incredibly upsetting and demotivating knowing that you are not as able as you would like.

There are even restrictions on theme park rides, and water activities that can mean that you miss out on the fun during family vacations and reduces the amount of quality family time that you spend together. Taking care of your back, and avoiding further pain and injury, is going to help you lead a much more fulfiled life, and prevent you from feeling restricted.

Better mental health

With pain and a restrictive lifestyle comes mental health problems quite often, it goes without saying that feeling pain every day can help you into a depressive state, even with medication, and therapies, it can be difficult to manage mentally. As such, taking care of your back should improve your mental health, and prevent any mental health issues that may arise from pain, or restriction overall.

Talking therapies, CBT, and if necessary medication are there to help with mental health disorders, but prevention is better than cure, and taking very good care of our back health is a great preventative measure.

Identity Magazine is all about guiding women to discover their powers of Self-Acceptance, Appreciation, and Personal Achievement. We ask that every contributor and expert answer the Identity questions in keeping with our theme.

Their answers can be random and in the moment or they can be aligned with the current article they have written. In that way, we hope to encourage and motivate each other, thus inspiring you to Get All A’s.

What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? Additionally, what are you still working on accepting? Now, we’re not talking about resignation, rather stepping into, embraced, and owned.

I have come to accept my failures as well as my strengths in dealing with day to day struggles. I understand that sometimes situations cannot always be controlled and that I should learn to appreciate the good times and accept that whatever happens, happens.

Appreciation is everything. What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?

I have learned to appreciate the people I have that have stuck by me. It’s rare to meet individuals who become an integral part of your life offering support and companionship especially at times when you need it most.

The biggest achievement in my life would be my 2 children. The goals I have are what I strive to give to my kids for them to have a better life.
