I’ve thought this too, “Ugh, Susan, you gotta be disciplined.” If you could just be MORE disciplined, you would get the results you wanted.
At least that’s what you keep telling yourself, huh?
So you just tell yourself to be more disciplined, I’ve been there done that.
But then it’s happy hour time, or the desserts get placed on the table at the holiday party, or you reach back out to your crappy ex, or you stop posting on social media for your business, or someone tells you your idea is bad so you don’t follow through.
Now, thinking and telling yourself to be disciplined just isn’t working
What if I told you that you can accept and appreciate that discipline isn’t the must-have recipe for success and results?
In truth my friends, discipline is great to be aware of, but it’s not the answer to having it all.
Over the years from my own studying and implementing, I’ve learned MANY formulas.
And the one that works for achieving goes like this.
Accepting responsibility to take consistent action and you get to choose what consistency looks like.
Accepting and appreciating the process of time
Accepting, appreciating, and achieving all the small steps leading you to results
Consistent Action + Time + Small Steps = Results
So why don’t we do this?
It’s not because we’re not disciplined enough.
It’s because we’re not motivated enough. We haven’t hit that “enough is enough.”
We’re addicted to being comfortable.
We have husbands that make the money.
We have kids, that’s our main focus.
or/and…because we aren’t motivated we THINK it’s discipline.
When we scratch the surface, we just don’t want it enough.
Think about it, we don’t have to use discipline to “get us” to do something we WANT to do.
I never needed the discipline to show up to my 9-5 job for 5 years over a decade ago
I never needed the discipline to go to my doctor’s appointment
I don’t need the discipline to be a mom every day
I don’t need the discipline to be a wife… or a friend…
The game to finally getting RESULTS is the A-GAME…
It’s being in charge of your thoughts and navigating them and your motivation.
Imagine never having to be disciplined again… because you WANT to take the actions that get you results consistently.
That’s what happens when you are in charge of your mind + motivation.
Then, by taking those small steps and experiencing momentum, you get even more motivated and confident.
