I’ve always been an adrenaline and an adventure junkie. My high school besties and I worked at the same butcher shop (slicing roast beef) to save for the adventure of a lifetime: a 15-day backpacking trip across the UK.
Being a Mom now, I don’t why or how our parents let us go, but we had such an adventure and I’m so grateful they did.
Four years later, I wanted that adrenaline and adventure again so I moved to London for the summer where I freelanced as a Graphic Designer from a bunk bed in a hostel to landing a fun bartending job at a club with free room and board above it.
I had adventures and adrenaline almost every night as I worked and traveled to France, Dubai, and South Africa, all in one summer.
I took a risk with my life by not getting a job right away, charging my travels away, and possibly meeting the wrong strangers.
We take risks quite often, but I don’t think we realize how often.
We take risks…
Flying
Traveling
Buying homes
Leaving careers or switching careers
Getting married
Having kids
Starting a side hustle
Starting a business
Writing a book
Investing
Taking a loan
Having surgery
Filing bankruptcy
We take risks in believing in ourselves and trusting ourselves when it comes to taking action for the life we want. Right?
Bankruptcy was a risk I took to explore the world to then discover I wanted a life of freedom and flexibility. I had surgery and I happened to have complications, which was a small risk. But, it was a risk I chose for my body.
Investing in coaches and teams was a risk that challenged me to uplevel my success threshold.
I take risks for MY adventurous life, and that includes all things as a woman, mother, and business owner.
From risks, I’ve gained deeper belief, confidence, self-respect, self-love, new skills, weight loss, mental and physical strength—and what just like a preach, a thriving MomLife + BizLife.
My husband, my kids, friends, or family will never be responsible for my happiness, success, and adventure. I accept full responsibility as it’s my life’s adventure.
Risks can be scary and adventurous. You don’t always lose when you take a risk. You can lean into the adventure.
What are the risks that you’ve taken? What are some you want to take, but holding back?
Make a list of all the risks you’ve come out stronger from and make your decisions from that place of self-trust, power, and strength.
